THIS SUCKS!! Bad timing.
I injured my wrist when I was 3D modeling with the mouse... I thnk I put too much strain on it or something. It hurts to move the mouse, but I have a deadline due on Monday so I still gotta work on it over the weekend *indures pain*
Has this happened anyone? I think I remember WenF had something similar like this for something else? D: *tries to remember*
How do you go about recovering or relieving the pain from wrist injury?

Date: 2007-04-28 06:26 pm (UTC)first things first, dont repeat my mistake and overwork it because of your deadline. thats what i did and to this day, yrs later, i STILL have trouble with CTS. tell your instructor immediately. i only told my instructor after the cts had traveled up to my shoulder and he immediately told me to stop and to delegate (i was the director of the group bc the movie was all my idea/etc). stupidly i did not bc i didnt trust the others to do everything (and they didnt bc they had other responsibilities that they looked too more strongly than my movie) and just made things worse. i even switched to my left hand and got cts in my left handbc its not used as much as my right hand and so the muscles were weak.
what i did was go to a doctor and an acupuncturist. doctor just told me to REST it and told me to take ibuprofen. acupuncture helped with the pain.
switch to a trackball or a tablet. throw away your mouse. check your work station set up. your wrist needs to be HIGHER than the mouse or else you are putting extra strain on it, so make sure you are sitting up pretty high.
more than anything, REST your wrist, trust me i really wish i had done this bc i still have cts now and cant rly rest it bc i have the responsibility of a full time job where i need to use a computer a lot and handle heavy art objects, but when you are a student your instructors will be more forgiving so TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!! dont repeat my mistakes!!!! because of my cts, i cant rly draw that much, and i had to quit 3d work altogether.

Date: 2007-04-28 06:29 pm (UTC)also buy those hot/cold packs you can microwave or freeze and wrap around your wrist. those things helped with the pain. i would have one of those heat packs and put it under the trackball for when i was working.
most importantly tho you should rest and let your body heal itself... its been like 4 yrs and i havent had a chance to let my wrst rly heal itself and it sucks :(
