THIS SUCKS!! Bad timing.

I injured my wrist when I was 3D modeling with the mouse... I thnk I put too much strain on it or something. It hurts to move the mouse, but I have a deadline due on Monday so I still gotta work on it over the weekend *indures pain*

Has this happened anyone? I think I remember WenF had something similar like this for something else? D: *tries to remember*

How do you go about recovering or relieving the pain from wrist injury?

The most that I ever did with a wrist injury is take Motrin and numb it with ice so I can still work. XD;

If it becomes more serious, then you should go to the doctor to get it professionally checked out.

exact same thing for me. i got carpal tunnel from doing intense 3d modeling in maya with a mouse.
first things first, dont repeat my mistake and overwork it because of your deadline. thats what i did and to this day, yrs later, i STILL have trouble with CTS. tell your instructor immediately. i only told my instructor after the cts had traveled up to my shoulder and he immediately told me to stop and to delegate (i was the director of the group bc the movie was all my idea/etc). stupidly i did not bc i didnt trust the others to do everything (and they didnt bc they had other responsibilities that they looked too more strongly than my movie) and just made things worse. i even switched to my left hand and got cts in my left handbc its not used as much as my right hand and so the muscles were weak.
what i did was go to a doctor and an acupuncturist. doctor just told me to REST it and told me to take ibuprofen. acupuncture helped with the pain.
switch to a trackball or a tablet. throw away your mouse. check your work station set up. your wrist needs to be HIGHER than the mouse or else you are putting extra strain on it, so make sure you are sitting up pretty high.
more than anything, REST your wrist, trust me i really wish i had done this bc i still have cts now and cant rly rest it bc i have the responsibility of a full time job where i need to use a computer a lot and handle heavy art objects, but when you are a student your instructors will be more forgiving so TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!! dont repeat my mistakes!!!! because of my cts, i cant rly draw that much, and i had to quit 3d work altogether.

btw here are some things that will help. go buy a brace for your wrist. keep it on all the time and sleep with it. it should be the kind that has a metal thing in it so it keeps your wrist straight.
also buy those hot/cold packs you can microwave or freeze and wrap around your wrist. those things helped with the pain. i would have one of those heat packs and put it under the trackball for when i was working.
most importantly tho you should rest and let your body heal itself... its been like 4 yrs and i havent had a chance to let my wrst rly heal itself and it sucks :(

like it was mentioned, just stop using a mouse. The first time I did a serious modeling assignment which lasted me about 4 weeks, the same thing happened to me. Luckily I stopped right away so it never got very serious. Wear a brace, take a break, get some sleep, and if you must finish the assignment, switch to a tablet. It's lots healthier for your wrist, and you can set your tablet pen button for middle click.

I never use a mouse anymore, not even @ work. And so far I've never had wrist problems again =)

Take care of yourself! And if you need any help with 3D, feel free to contact meee~

i didn't get enough sleep for the past week. but i just finished my assignment today ^^;; (now for the next one...) The tablet was a lot easier than the mouse(i didn't know you could adjust it for middle click!). Thanks Phi~~<3!!

>< Sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome. *nods* Has happened multi times x_x Anyhow... I would say get some ice pack for your wrist and press again it. When you get back to work, have the ice pack (or some other form of cushion) under your wrist. Oh, and also ointment if you have any! Hope your wrist feels better D:

get those pads you put underneath your wrist area so that it's not bent weirdly. and "raise those wrists". typing teacher in quimby used to say that all the time.

I say wear a brace so it doesn't move around as much. Moving = higher chances of making it worst. If you must finish the project then for the time being put the brace on but afterwards you should get it checked out, in case it might be something serious.

I usually put hot object on my wrist to ease the pain. It's like you take a bubble bath to release stress and physical pain injuries like back pain and neck pain. -w-! Ooo bubble bath~~

Have your wrist take some bubble bath 8o! And good luck w/ your assignment >w
