Winter 2013 Final Thoughts + Side Anime

First Impressions
Super Delayed. I'm keeping this super short since I don't recall much anymore haha.

Amnesia
Jumping into different AU + Creepy Boyfriends + Heroine gets killed a lot. Main character is dull as hell and lack any sort of personality. Wish she speak up more. There's some truly terrifying stuff in this series. Heroine gets killed each time and enters an AU where she has different boyfriend. This makes the series a little bit more interesting to watch as both the viewers and heroine has no idea what's going on. Some of the love interest are creepy. There's like only one that's super normal and likeable. I end up kinda interested in the most scariest boyfriend tho orz;; The ending is kinda Deus Ex Machina. But heroine and fairy boy, Orion, had a nice little moment at the end, that made me feel like the relationship between these two were more important than the creepy boyfriends. Sweet open ended ending that made me well up inside.
The Unlimited Hyoubu Kyousuke
Action + Politics + Esper vs non Esper. I was worried I would not like any of the characters that seem like villains, but they aren't that bad. And I took a liking to Kyousuke, particularly after the Flashback Arc. The Flashback is set back during WW2, and was refreshing to see their take on history visually. There's some amazing midair fight sequence and shocking scenes that's definitely worth watching. Cindy Yamauchi worked on those particular episodes. As someone who did not watch Zettai Karen Children, it was still fairly watchable. Makes me curious about the original series tho.
Tamako Market
Slice of Life + Family + Quirky Bird. SUPER CUTE SERIES. There's also some nice community feel to this series. Everyone in their little shopping districts are like family. It has very light romance, which I think people were expecting more. But its still fairly satisfying. There's some nice emotional episode, like the song the father wrote for Tamako's late mother (cries). Mochimazzi, the bird, is also worth just watching. Can't go wrong with a fat bird :D
Gintama
Oh geez Gintama...I hope it comes back for another season. I don't think there was that many new episodes, since there was a lot of rerun, but oh man, the Shogun Arc, made me tear up at work. Seriously Gintama, please come back.
Maoyuu
I tried really hard to like this, but THE ANIMATION OMG ITS TERRIBLE. Most of it is outsourced to Korea. There's not much quality check. For Toi8 character designs you think they would take more care with the quality T_T Some scenes are weirdly paced. There's some interesting moments, but the visual is just so hard to overlook... It's also very dialogue heavy, which requires you to really pay attention. But its not easy to pay attention when the key frames are like utter crap. I don't even remember what happened at the end, but its very anticlimactic.
Ishida to Asakura
Oh gawd, this is so stupid and it looks badly/cheaply made 3 minute series. Ishida is in love with Asakura and wants to open a flower shop together. Asakura loves boobs. Bucktooth wants to open a bookstore with Asakura, but Ishida hates him that he keeps killing him in each episode. There's just a bunch of weird ass stuff here haha.

Arawkawa Under the Bridge
I was watching this on CR and really fell in love with it that I bought all the boxsets. Initially when it first came out, I sorta watched episode and didn't go back. But I'm so glad that I decided to give it a second chance. Very quirky and charming. Fun characters doing really weird and random things. Overtop comedy as well some sweet characterization. Really nice art direction by SHAFT. The second opening is really amazing *w* I hope they do more anime!
Hiiro no Kakera
It had a very slow start so during its airing, I kinda just stopped watching it. But finally went back to finish it! It’s one of the very few shoujo/otoge anime series where I can actually support the given canon pairing. Not sure what they did, but Takuma and Tamaki’s relationship development just felt very natural, that I just cheered them all the way~ They have one of the best romantic scenes I've seen in shoujo in a long time. I like how Tamaki isn’t a petite heroine. After watching Amnesia, UtaPri Arcana, La Corda or Hakuouki, there’s just something refreshing about her character that I ended up liking a lot. She does not take shit from anyone! When wolf boy kept harassing her, she totally call on it as sexual harassment. You go girl! She also tries to do something because she would feel useless rather than just let her bodyguards protect her. They made her relationship with her male harem less romantic and more about bonds between the princess and her guardians. Which works really well with supporting our main pairing without getting any guys heart broken. I'm assuming Studio Deen has upped their quality, because visually the series is really beautiful. From the background to characters and the music. Story and pacing is a different issue ahaha. Sometimes it gets convoluted or too slow. The boys get defeated way too many times, I felt like it was repetitive. It's a mix of shounen (lots of magical fighting) and shoujo, but shoujo part is more entertaining tbh.
Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn
Finally finished this two seasons ago haha! Anyways, glad I was marathoning this instead of watching it each week. 5 minutes at the beginning of each episode are recap and even recap episodes!!! Such a pain to skip through. Something is up with their production. They should make a cut version. I still love the characters and there was some great action sequence :D Openings and Endings are just awesome. Compared to the manga, they feature the Arcobaleno more, so you get to know them also probably to stretch from catching up to the manga. Each cliffhanger left me wanting more, so on a weekend, I just marathoned to the end for the entire day. The finale was so well done. *A* Hyper Dying Will! Tsuna is love!! I need to read the manga, though hearing how it felt rushed, kinda makes me less motivated haha.
