And the other half! Dude I watch too many anime...
Chihayafuru
Instantly becoming one of my favorite (enough to make me draw more than one fanart ahahah). I'm amazed by how consistent this series was. Every episode's quality does not drop from pacing to animation to being interesting. The characters are also so beautiful *O* I love the character relationships and development between everyone. They didn't push romance too heavily in this series, so it became more of a shonen anime? XD Especially all the explantion with game play and technique. I wish there was more Arata~~!!! His eyes are so alluring *A* The ending didn't quite feel like an ending but just another episode. Hopefully leaving an open opportunity for a second season XD
Phi Brain: Puzzle of God
Surprisingly this became another obsession of mine. When I first watched it, it was decent. The animation quality itself is pretty bad and inconsistent. Only certain times we get good key animators. But i think the introduction of Gammon (FukuJun) in the second episode won me over. Such an adorable obnoxious jerk haha. And then we have Anna who looks like a girl was the second win. Then the series adds a bunch of Gammon/Kaitou moments....omg so cute. There's a lot of relationship drama between the gangs that I enjoyed. Its not like Kaitou wants these people to hang around him, but they seem drawn toward him. You start seeing how he accepts these friendship only for them to distance themselves away from him. Gammon, who doesn't consider himself a friend, and actually grew envious of Kaitou's attention to the point of going against Kaitou. Once I learned more about Rook (Sakurai), I think I became more excited for each episode. He's very obsessive of Kaitou (in a yandere way). They have a weird enemy-friendship as well. The ending was pretty cheesy, but so cute!! Though I wish it was longer in a better conclusion for Rook. The seiyuu cast for this series is pretty amazing.
Oh yeah the puzzle...it doesn't seem that important compared to the character development. Its more of a device to make the story interesting, because the puzzle here are a matter of life or death! But its entertaining to see how they ends up solving the puzzle in an epic fashion way. Plus how the artists manage to design the puzzles must of took a lot of research. Anyways, second season already looks great~~ wakuwaku. I wish more people watches this show~~~ It may seem dumb in the beginning, but its quite the ride.
Daily Lives of High School Boys
This series is so ridiculous XD Basically Gintama x High School. The humor sensibility from the Gintama director is prominent here. Somehow Tadakuni fades aways into the background or not even in a couple of episodes, even tho he is the main protaganist! Hidenori (GintokiSugita) too over the show. I guess he's more interesting. The girls kinda get annoying when they are beating up the boys, but at least they're strong and not moeblobs haha (much like gintama). The ending kinda felt more sad, but of course in the end was just another troll. Looks like there's gonna be a second season! yay!
Inu x Boku
Can't quite put my hand on what makes this series not quite satisfactory, but in the end wins me over. Maybe the events for some episodes are quite pointless? Or not as exciting. Like going through the signature rally. Ririchiyo trying to write letters or making coffee for Miketsukami. It's quite plain...Nothing really happens. Miketsukami also seems a bit too creepy stalkerish. But as the story moves forward, the relationship between Ririchiyo and Miketsukami is just wonderfully developed. Episode 3 , the last scene where they both had water over their head just made me wibble enough to go buy all the manga volumes. The character backstory is pretty amazing. The tie in with the letter to the end was quite satisfactory. And the characters with their silly antics are all just cute enough for me to enjoy watching. Tho Ririchiyo's skirt is just sooo short (doesn't help that she wears thigh high socks with garterbelts to lead the eye there) I think they only had one panty shot in the first episode. But there's tension of it appearing again if she bends over ahaha.
Persona 4 the Animation
This show was weird too. I was expecting very action-shonen type anime since its based on a game (which I still haven't played) but a bunch of mix genre. High School Life + Family Drama + Serial Killers + Fantasy/Action + Comedy + Slice of Life + Friendship + Detective etc... there was a pattern when they were each getting their persona that gets repetitive, but after that, it was like a normal high school anime until the next battle began. The quality was hit and miss but luckily the dvd gets revisions. Its very graphically appealing with the bold colors and shapes. I was amazed how well some of the drama were handled in the second half. Nanako!!! I'm sure people would recommend playing the game....but I haven't really played games in years..../lazy
Black Rock Shooter
Somehow I didn't quite feel for this show. Mostly I had a hard time trying to figure out how that other world and the real world were connected. Every episode was mostly serious business, so it wasn't exactly fun to watch...too many girl drama over silly things. Why can't you all be friends?? So frustrating!!! The cgi was pretty awesome tho. It actually works well with that 2d look plus the fight animation was directed done by Imaishi (Gurren Lagann). But sometimes cgi doesn't quite capture the emotions 2d animation would create....so it ends up becoming lifeless. Along with Guilty Crown, this season wasn't exactly Noitamina's best. On the otherhand, Thermae Romae, which aired before BRS, was awesome and more noitamina-ish!!!
