Toenail update + Sick!
Mar. 4th, 2014 09:41 pmFirst off, ingrown toenail update!
So the pain on my toe was even worst the next day after my post on it. The tiger balm didn't work as expected. So I went ahead and tried to cut it after organizing laundry. Really hard since it was really short and less space to grasp the edge of the nail.
I had like 6 tools out to perform my self surgery XD Toe bled quite a bit that I would have to wait for it to stop bleeding and go back cutting. This was happening the whole day -_-;; There was no pus this time, which I was waiting for since the last time it relieved the pain immediately. The problem was that I cut bits instead of one whole chunk since I didn't have proper grasp...so there was left over nails that were hiding under the swollen skin. I got almost as far as the root, but not quite, since it was hard to reach and sensitive. I filed what I could down to smooth the nail. It was really purple haha. After some icing and heat compression the pain subsided for a bit. I decided to not touch it anymore for the night. I showed it to my mom and she said that I'm just like my dad orz;; Spent the rest of the night sneak watching some ingrown toenail surgery and even dreamed about it haha.
Here was a video I watched that explain how even if it looks like I cut a piece all the way out, I might have made it worst.
The next day (Day 3), toe wasn't hurting anymore. But I was still bothered that I might not smooth out any jagged edges, so after showering went back to start cutting and filing. This time, the skin wasn't even sensitive so I could dig a bit deeper and straighten the cut. Found a jagged piece that might be the culprit. The swollen part of the skin was now hardened so I was also cutting it out so I could see the edge of the nail more.
After that toe felt a whole lot better! So lesson:
-DON'T CUT NAIL SHORT!!
-Clean straight cut. Avoid unsmooth edges.
-Soak nail in water helps...
---
Over the weekend I got sick for the first time in a while!! Probably overworked myself -_- I still had to work over the weekend to finish deadline orz;; It's not a terrible cold/flu, but very drowsy and lots of sniffling (even without medicine). Hope I get better soon. I have other deadlines to work on.
