College + Notebook Kiss + Spendings (photodump)

Teacher was absent from art history class....I didn't go on the computer last night to get the notice T_T;; No wonder I haven't heard from [livejournal.com profile] vejiita4eva. Oh well, I wasted my time finishing the 4th chapter of Notebook Kiss doujinshi~

I went to the Katzenberg (co-founder of Dreamworks SKG) Session (summary of event from asaphira_sachi). I met up with [livejournal.com profile] ianoji and some former classmates which was nice, since we don't have the same class this semester TAT;; Dreamworks donated $300,000 to the Animation/Illustration program because of the school's close relationship with the company *A* Does that mean better supplies/equipment? XD The one quote Katzenberg said seems to apply to everyone:

Believe in what you're doing, because if you don't, why should others believe you?

Gosh that's a powerful quote. I mean you hear it all the time, but who really believes in themselves? Not many. I think its time for me to boost up my esteem and strive to get better. Everyone else should too! I think I'm going to aim for the BFA and see how far I can go with my art guided by education. Also I wish I took John Clapp class in the past ;O; He subbed one of our class and invited us to his lecture for his class which was very very informative. Knowledge in Design really helps make an artwork incredibly stronger.

I finally filled up all the pages in my notebook with the Notebook Kiss doujinshi~! I was on hiatus from it for a few months @A@;; But went back and worked on it. Now I need the scripts for those pages....

It's so hard drawing eyes looking downward without being fully closed.

I still love Haruhi. I still think Tamaki is an idiot and should stay away from her.

It doesn't end does it??? I never finish any of my story!! It'll be another digimon web doujinshi haha.

My first Reborn and 5927 doujinshi! I bought it on the reborn lj community XD;; The artwork is quite impressive and the story is so cute X3

The style is so clean~~!! I wish I could do that ;O; Gokudera looks like Gokudera XD

I ended up spending more money online buying one crap after another XD; Bought an artbook by Richard Schmid, Persona 3, and Meet the Robinson Cinemanga (the layout sucks!!) for reference (I couldn't find a copy of the artbook ;O;).

Richard Schmid painting are gorgeous!! Look at the rough brushstrokes! But it creates a really naturalistic feel. I need to find time to practice painting like that T^T;;

That concludes today's photo dump :3

I wonder if I really should go to Fall Out Boy concert....$30. Anyone going?
Okay time to do Japanese homework and go to sleep early.

She was gone? SWEET.

Actually, the reason you didn't hear from me was because when I got up this morning I felt like I was DYING XD Food poisoning, I suspect, what with all the.. everything -_-

Which means I didn't make the Katzenberg talk either, which SUCKS because going by you and [livejournal.com profile] asaphira_sachi, he sounds like he was pretty amazing T_____T I'm going to have to pick both your brains for the sweet Katzenberg inspirational goodness.

Aww food poisoning ;O; I hpe you're doing better now? XD
The seminar wasn't wasn't entirely exciting...lots of clapping...but I stuck around for 30 minutes and got to hear about his life, watch Bee movie preview, fundamentals are important and stuff.

GAHH art history midterm ;O; I don't want to work on it DX

katzenberg really is quite the orator~

when i was an intern at SKG in glendale, it was when sinbad was released (the last 2D animation DW would do) they had a company meeting in the cafeteria where katzenberg discussed how the movie was doing in the box office (it was doing really poorly) and trying to basically buck us up since it wasn't doing well~ it was a saddish meeting, but it was really great of him to "cheer" us up and encourage everyone to keep doing what they do and the he believes in all of us and not our fault, sometimes things just don't work as planned ectect...nice guy~

[identity profile] gem2niki.livejournal.com 2007-10-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds nice :3;; What were you doing as an intern at dreamworks D:?

*haha..i didn't watch sinbad until a few years after dvd was released*

[identity profile] fawnfawn.livejournal.com 2007-10-22 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
you know, i realised i never answer your question, sorry for being a douche....not that you care i suppose hahah

i was in the animation training dept (training the 2d animators to use 3D software). i was responisble for making their intranet website so it wasn't like a REAL internship, but like an 11 week job where i got to learn all the 3D software for no reason haha.

Ahh your sketchbook is so awesome XD And that quote is very true =D People like others with confidence. That doesn't mean you aren't modest or anything, but if people talk down on themselves or feel down, it will show in their work and the way they act =D If anything, it should be like Gurren Lagaan! Believe in me, who believes in you!! I tend to be very confident, but I also have a paranoid streak... so it's always nice to receive nice comments from other people about... anything! I think a good network really helps! And and, I recently was poked to join 43things.com. It's good for people (*cough* a lot of my friends) who get depressed and feel like they've accomplished nothing. It's like a log on what you've actually accomplished and what you're still striving to do. I just like it to blog about myself but... it's still nice! http://www.43things.com/person/kixies

i've been so hyped up on concerts.
i'm seeing rilo kiley on monday, and then i'm going to see final fantasy (10/28), regina spektor (10/30), then decemberists(11/30), and possibly stars (11/10). i'm also going to see bjork on 12/12... im so excited to see her the most!

i'm personally not much of a fan of falloutboy but if you know at lease 10 of their songs, i recommend going, that, and if you know more people who are going.

....
how does knowledge in design make an artwork stronger?

[identity profile] gem2niki.livejournal.com 2007-10-14 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Where do you have the time to go to concert ;O; Bjork? XD Is it that lady with the swan outfit? XD

In design, there are lot ways of manipulating the eyes to follow or direct the important aspect of a piece which makes an artwork stronger if you apply the same rule. For example a horizontal line going straight across a figure. The eyes is forced to look at the figure because a line usually directs the viewers to look straight at it. Stuff like where you put elements with design rules make the artwork make sense.... Something like that XD;;;

damn and i also want to see daft punk on 10/27 in las vegas

Uwaaa doujinshi~ ♥ I love looking at your sketches.

And damn that guy Richard Schmid is amazing :O Painting people is so harddd. I'm beginning to understand the design and art thing too- it's amazing how much of a difference a well-designed layout makes.

Fall Out Boy concert go go go! XD
