Moe-style

Is my style moe-kawaii? XD;;
I notice a couple of people on Gaia pointing I draw like that and they hate that style...but in fact, I'm not a big fan of moeness (minus [livejournal.com profile] kurot and [livejournal.com profile] joobley, you have more flavor to your style).

I don't consider it that style... more a mix shoujo/shounen influence... Drawing big eyes doesn't necessarily constitute moe does it? (i don't think i draw them too huge either....)

Somehow I feel offended haha...

I agree, your art isn't moe in the least. They're obviously confused.

i think your style is more shonen actually @o@;

dealing with critics sucks :3

the good news is that your skin gets tougher after a while! there's nothing for you to change about yourself based on what they say. you are an excellent artist and can be your own guide without dealing with a randomly upset .001% of the population who just want to tear you down.

peace!

When I think about moe, I think about Haruhi and Shakugana no Shana... Their eyes envelope their heads and lacks any expression. I harely think your art style is close to that. =/

Nope, your style definitely ISN'T moe. It's above that and has much more personality going for it.

I don't think your style is "kawaii"-style at all, actually. I think it's more of a mixed, unique style. Your eyes don't look huge either. I really like how you draw! Especially your group CGs~

Sometimes, dumb silly people just don't know what else to describe amanga/anime art, so they just call it the only Japanese word they know - kawaii - and think it's a compliment everyone wants to hear.

I think your style is more shonen. Definitely not moe~!

You should know better than to trust people from Gaia Online. :|

...moe is probably the last word I would think. :S
...I wish my style was more mature so I don't have to look liek such a pedophile ROFL. orz

萌じゃない!

I agree with what the others are saying here. =O

[identity profile] nittle-grasper.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Umm....no. In fact, your style of eyes isn't even that big. I feel you draw more realistic proportions than most people. They obviously don't know what they're talking about =P

[identity profile] vejiicakes.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't have thought so. More likely, your Gaia folk are talentless boors who can't even recognize stylization trends well enough to differentiate between them. You know, like people who still think that all anime looks the same.

Also, the fact that they even pointed out, "Hey, you draw moe style. I don't like that." Pfff, entitlement whores. Like people just can't grasp the concept that they are not your only audience, and that not having the same taste as THEM does not diminish YOUR tastes.

yea i agree TOT;;

anywhoo, working on portfolio??

[identity profile] vejiicakes.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sssssorta. I'm having to revise a lot of the sketches I was thinking of including because Sheldon really really really drilled into us yesterday that "Bunny doesn't WANT rendering, she wants gesture. GESTURE." Man, I should've gone to some Thursday figure drawing sessions--now all I have are my Friday in-class ones T_T (They only permit live figure drawing sketches in the portfolio, right?)

[identity profile] gem2niki.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
She doesn't want rendering? Okay, I have plenty of gesture haha.....
Wait...gesture as in more finished stages? XD;;

Yea, live figure....but I wonder if its okay to base your drawing from life drawing sketches? XD;;

Good luck!

ahaha NOT AT ALL, I would never describe your art style as moe, it's got a much more mature feel.
