C0DE:BREAKER
I have never read the manga before so this comes from an unbiased POV. Though I heard the anime changed a lot so all the manga fans are raging over it and call it worst adaptation etc. It could be said its standard shounen, but with some heavy dark theme. In my first impression I mentioned it was uncomfortable to watch and I didn't expect to already tear up during that homeless/dog beating scene. And still holds true until the last episode. I think I've become more frustrated with the characters because there's no way of helping the characters and they've already set the path they've determined to stay in. There's no line between what is good and evil throughout this series. The organization Eden that the Code:Breaker works for aren't exactly good. The Code:Breaker themselves are also not exactly bringing justice, while they are getting rid of the bad guy, they are also plain murderers. Hitomi, the main villain is also not purely evil. He became more of a tragic hero/villain for me, surprisingly by the 10th episode. When they shed his backstory, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him and how helpless he must have been when he carried the burden by himself. I basically had waterworks for the final episode. So damn hard to watch!! I think also the seiyuu Shinichiro Miki (who also did the role of Lockon in Gundam 00) did an amazing performance on this broken Hitomi. I also enjoyed how Oogami character also broke down in that final 2-3 episodes. He isn't that no-emotion character after all. The series ended as if there's gonna be a 2nd one, but not really? So I guess it depends how well the anime or manga did. The animation is pretty standard but with some interesting fight scenes and effects. The characters are interesting enough to follow, tho Sakura does shout Oogami too much haha. The anime definitely makes me interested in the manga, but those fanservice stuff seems iffy.... Overall I enjoyed it (later half mostly), Hitomi in particular made it for me.

Eureka Seven Ao
AHHH Eureka Seven Ao...One of the sequel I was most looking forward to since Eureka Seven is one of my top favorite anime. I should have seen it coming, since I didn't like the movie as it was an AU. E7Ao was a sequel...but not a direct sequel with Renton and Eureka (which honestly I think everyone cares more about than the new characters) While the beginning seemed like a lot of interesting things will happen, it ended up being waaayyy too convoluted, messy, unclear, everywhere, underdeveloped etc. The first series had a similar issue with things going everywhere with its 52 episodes, but it had a basic theme to carry out throughout the series and the conclusion was a fine ending where plot hole didn't matter anymore. E7Ao, I had absolutely no idea what was going on...what it wanted to say. They had this ongoing mystery of the disappearance of Eureka....but even when they reveal more of it, it didn't really make sense. Truth's role also made no sense. There's this weird disconnect between episodes. When they leave a cliffhanger, the next episode doesn't exactly follow through the excitement. I really wanted to like Ao, but even his character isn't really doing much. Doesn't help that his girl friends are almost fanservice bait with their fanservice scenes. Another confusing thing is all this time traveling and who exactly is the villain? I really wished I could like all the characters...but they weren't developed well like in the first series where you know you will like or dislike them. Eureka Seven Ao didn't have that charm the original brought and in process tried to be overly complex than it should for a 26 episodes series.
What is there positive to say? The animation were great. There are some excellent 2d mecha fight scenes unlike Aquarion series. However, the animation does get pretty inconsistent in some episodes...making the characters look weird. When it looks great its looks great. But then there are some sloppy directions throughout. Like the first series, the soundtrack is awesome! I can listen to it alone and enjoy it. They also had LAMA do some wonderful insert songs. Overall, Eureka Seven Ao was a disappointment....and lacking. There's this good review about what went wrong?

Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki
Nothing deep to say. It's just an adorable 3 minute show to watch weekly of the round cat and his family! Ohtani (seiyuu for Pikachu) does an adorable job for Poyo~! So sad its over, but there's Senyuu replacing it for now. Also Gokudera's seiyuu does the brother XD I don't think its really a show targeted to little children...Kuro, the black cat likes to hump at Poyo hahaha.
DVD
Anime I've watched on DVD. I should have wrote these when they were fresh in my mind...but I'll just spew overall feeling.

Mushi-Shi
I think enough is said about this series from reviews that everyone knows it is an excellent series. It's episodic, and doesn't have an overall plot, but it works so well. Each episode is considered its own little plot, so you can just watch an episode or two when you feel like it. The really emphasis in this series is not really the mushi that affects the lives of humans, but instead its the human drama instead. There is a lot of depth in one episode alone, where you are introduced to an area/village/dwelling, meet characters/family/village with a problem, and see how Ginko resolves it. It sounds formulaic, but its done so superbly in visual, writing, and atmosphere. The background paintings are gorgeous!! While the series seems too serious, it can also have lightheartedness and the characters help bring the stories alive. I wish I had watched this earlier, but now as an adult I can really appreciate the details. According to the extra, the director really tried to be faithful to the manga but also add things that can't be done in manga. This series is easily in my top favorite along Moribito. Now I'm trying to collect the manga...

Escaflowne
I've only watched some episodes of Escaflowne when it was airing on Fox Kids channel when I was young. I remember Hitomi's annoying narration in the beginning haha. I finally decided to watch it when I kept seeing the Boxset at my work. So I borrowed it and popped it in. Omg the long pointy nose and chin, how it brings me back XD The series was definitely more darker/violent than I remembered it haha. The first half or so was pretty addicting. I could not stop watching it and wanted to know what was going to happen next. Weird enough the second half felt weird or things weren't as exciting or solid as the first half. Hitomi got kinda annoying with her whining. Her "Van" shouting gets a bit too much for me (like Sakura's Oogami haha). Something about the love triangle ruined the characters. They've become unlikable, save for Merle and some supporting characters. The villain had weird reasons...if I can recall. So first half, I really liked...second half not so much but I guess satisfying enough. The DVD extras were fun tho with the interviews with the seiyuu and anime staff. I bought the movie a while ago, so I should plan on watching that soon haha (I remember we rented in japanese vhs when it came out).

o.O;;; Wow... so Ao is an AU? Like the difference between Mai Hime and Mai Otome? (I watched two eps of Mai Otome and hated it SO MUCH... but I loved Mai Hime.) :/ It doesn't sound appealing....
My favorite episode was the one where pretty much nothing happens, and Renton's just at this weird place with this weird guy (whose wife is affected by that illness) who knocks down those windmill things with some weird motion, and teaches Renton that everything he's been taught to think is backwards, and everything is surreal and sort of misty. Charles and Ray then showed up and they made the story so much more interesting than in the beginning, but their ending made me sad and then I stopped liking it so much. But I did like the end with Dominic and Anemone, one of my favorite scenes is when they appear together to help fix things and even Anemone is all serious.
XD; Long anime is often more rewarding, but it's awfully nice to just see them get to the point - give us characters we can love and a good story.

Oh no Ao isn't an AU....or it could be sorta (too complex) hahaa. But its a sequel to the series.
Dominic and Anemone also had that really cute kiss scene and Gulliver also gets a kiss <3
